The Lunar Resources Registry UG (LRR)
Role: CEO
The LRR has developed a Registry Platform for Lunar Resources that follows the required Space Legal and Policy Frameworks.

The Lunar Resources Registry (LRR) was founded in 2019 in Germany by Simon Drake and Kevin Mac Gowan, focusing on facilitating the orderly and transparent development of lunar resources. Headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, LRR operates a registry system for documenting and archiving human activities on the Moon, including past, present, and planned missions, as well as commercial and non-commercial zones for resource exploration and extraction.
Key aspects of the Lunar Resources Registry include:

  • Transparent Registry: LRR provides an "Open Lunar Registry" as a transparent platform to manage ongoing activities on the Moon. This includes registering locations and zones for space agencies, scientific endeavors, and commercial entities, promoting transparency and aiming to prevent potential conflicts.
  • Commercial Registrations as a Service: LRR offers a service for commercial entities to register their intent to explore and extract resources at specific lunar locations.
  • Lunar Mapping and Data: The company utilizes extensive analytical processing and various data sources (including remote sensing data from missions like Clementine, Lunar Prospector, and Moon Mineralogy Mapper) to create detailed lunar maps. These maps highlight precise locations of potential resources like iron, silicates, titanium, thorium, and water, particularly in polar regions. LRR maintains different online interactive maps for educational, governance, and commercial planning purposes.
  • Early Stage Lunar Mining Exploration: LRR positions itself as an early-stage lunar mining exploration company.
  • Affiliations and Partnerships: LRR participated in the European Space Agency Business Incubation Centre in Germany (from 2021 to 2023) and the Thales Alenia Space - Space Business Catalyst in Italy (2024 to 2025)
