Extracting Data from a PDF

Extracting Data from PDFs is based on two starting points:

  1. The PDF is unlocked, and text and images can be copied or exported. Adobe and Foxit PDF have both developed tools to export PDFs to Word or Excel, but, a designer or desktop publisher will have to re-format the text and data into coherent and presentable material. One-click wonders never work so well.
  2. The PDF is locked, and copying text and images is restricted. No problem. There are new methods to extract content from locked PDFs, even when the document is 100s of pages long. The process is longer, and sometime the grade and resolution is less, but it is still possible.
